Our Opportunity

At Mercury, our Transformation and Optimisation Team empowers Mercury to deliver on its strategy by embedding adaptive practices, aligning enterprise planning and performance, and enabling the delivery of Mercury's key strategic objectives.

Join our dynamic team as a Program Manager, where you'll drive the successful delivery of complex, adaptive transformation initiatives. You'll integrate modern delivery approaches and foster a high-performance culture, acting as a strategic connector between business objectives and delivery execution. Coordinate multiple, interrelated projects to achieve cohesive and measurable outcomes, while providing leadership in agile, lean, and adaptive delivery models. Mentor Project Managers and uplift program delivery capability across the organisation.

The preference is for this role to be based in Auckland, Tauranga, Hamilton or Rotorua. Mercury operates in a hybrid work environment, providing you the flexibility to work from home and collaborate in our our modern offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of enterprise transformation programs to achieve measurable business and customer outcomes.
  • Apply adaptive delivery approaches including Agile, Lean, and iterative planning to improve flow and responsiveness.
  • Act as a mentor and delivery coach to Project Managers and other team members.
  • Build trusted relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring alignment on objectives, scope, and success criteria.
  • Establish and maintain fit-for-purpose governance frameworks to support informed, adaptive program oversight.
  • Proactively manage program risks, dependencies, and delivery constraints, escalating as required.

What We Are Looking For

  • Tertiary qualification in business, project/program management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Professional certification in program/project management (e.g., MSP, PgMP, PMP) preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in program or project management with a track record of successfully delivering complex transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing program management methodologies and governance frameworks.
  • Experience in stakeholder management across diverse business functions and at various organizational levels.
  • Strong understanding of change management principles and practices.
