Job Description:

Changthai, a popular Thai restaurant in Christchurch, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Restaurant Manager to lead daily operations and ensure the highest level of service and efficiency. This role is crucial in delivering a consistently excellent dining experience and overseeing the smooth functioning of both front-of-house and back-of-house teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate, and monitor the day-to-day operations of the restaurant
• Ensure dining facilities comply with health regulations and are clean, functional, and of suitable appearance
• Maintain records of stock levels and financial transactions
• Set staff work schedules and monitor staff performance
• Recruit, train, and supervise staff
• Manage budgets, control costs, and monitor profitability
• Respond to customer enquiries and resolve complaints
• Plan menus in consultation with chefs
• Organise marketing activities and promotional events
• Ensure a high standard of customer service is maintained at all times

Job Pre-requisites:

• At least 3 years of relevant experience and/or relevant qualification at diploma level or higher
• Prefer candidates with sound knowledge of Thai food and experience with Thai cuisine or in a Thai restaurant environment
• Prefer candidates with a Manager’s certificate who can supervise the sale of liquor
• Able to perform well under pressure during busy hours
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Proven ability to manage budgets, staffing, and customer service standards
• Knowledge of food safety and licensing regulations in New Zealand
