Proposal Writer / Senior Proposal Writer – Auckland


This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic thinker and skilled writer to play a pivotal role in securing key opportunities for WSP—helping shape and deliver critical infrastructure that makes a real difference across Aotearoa New Zealand.


Lead the creation of non-price attributes within a proposal which is compliant and responsive as part of the bid submission. Support the development of bid content from pursuit through to final submission and presentation. This includes working with other team members to support the build-up of key win strategies to improve the businesses chances of success.


The role:

  • Writing, proofreading, and editing content for bids and other proposals, including:
  • Assistance to the Proposal/Bid Manager in setting bid strategy (win themes etc.)
  • Writing client-focused sections of proposals
  • Co-writing, editing / reviewing sections of bids written by others
  • Researching and coordinating bid content
  • Coaching on best practice proposal writing
  • Formatting and presenting bid information in an appealing, easy to evaluate way
  • Monitor Tenderlink and GETS websites to obtain RFT document, raise questions and submit proposals
  • Working with the National Pursuits and Proposals team to help create more robust and efficient pursuit and bid processes
  • Assisting the Bid Manager or Client Relationship Manager (CRM) with the project management aspects of the proposal, when required.
  • Manage or coordinate bids, as well as write, for small opportunities and when required
  • Writing, proofreading, and editing marketing material including:
  • Capability Statements and presentations to clients
  • Industry award submissions
  • Insights-led marketing pieces
  • Project Profiles and other promotional material, as required.


About you:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications) preferred
  • Preferably minimum of 7 years professional experience in bidding or proposals or a related discipline
  • APMP Foundation Certificate or Shipley Certification would be favourable
  • Experience in turning technical content into compelling and responsive bid content
  • Skilled in using MS Word, including templates/styles
  • Experience using InDesign would be favourable
