The Opportunity
The Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment is looking to enhance his team of Advisors to support the work of the office. The Commissioner is seeking an Advisor or Senior Advisor with experience in either the development, use and interpretation of numerical modelling or environmental chemistry.
The Commissioner's primary role is to give independent advice to Parliament on environmental matters. The effectiveness of this advice depends to a large degree on the independence, integrity and quality of the work undertaken by the highly skilled team of advisors within his Office.
The Commissioner's work is by nature complex and interdisciplinary so if you feel equally at ease with data, engaging with policymakers, at home with scientists, and crafting clear and concise written communication, you'll find the Commissioner's office a richly rewarding place to be.
In line with the Commissioner's work, an Advisor's role is wide-ranging, with disciplines that include natural and applied sciences, engineering, economics, planning and resource management.
Role Responsibilities

What You'll Offer
You may have recently completed an advanced degree, and/or have several years' practical experience behind you. In either case, your defining attribute is likely to be intellectual curiosity and working to find the answer.
Candidates need to be comfortable with delivering analysis and engaging with stakeholders. Outstanding writing and excellent oral communication skills are essential.

- Provide high-quality, well-reasoned research and analysis
- Build subject matter expertise in areas such as energy, environmental economics, water, land use, chemicals and biodiversity
- Engage with stakeholders to gather critical information required for research
- Assist with the formulation of recommendations by the Commissioner
- Contribute to quality assurance processes and uphold the integrity of findings
- Support the Commissioner with his communication of work to diverse audiences including Parliament, Select Committees, and public interest groups.
