Are you an experienced jet boat driver ready to take the helm of a high-performing team in one of Aotearoa's most breathtaking locations? Dart River Adventures, part of Ngāi Tahu Tourism, is seeking a Head Jet Boat Driver to lead our boat driving team and ensure the safe, efficient, and unforgettable delivery of our iconic river experiences.
About The Role
As Head Jet Boat Driver, you'll oversee the day-to-day operations of our jet boat team, ensuring compliance with Maritime NZ Rule Part 82 and maintaining the highest standards of safety, customer service, and cultural integrity. You'll work closely with the Operations Manager and senior team to maximise trip availability, support driver training, and uphold our manaakitanga values—caring for our manuhiri (visitors) and each other like whānau.

Dart River Adventures, part of Ngāi Tahu Tourism, is seeking a Head Jet Boat Driver to lead our boat driving team and ensure the safe, efficient, and unforgettable delivery of our iconic river experiences.
About The Role
As Head Jet Boat Driver, you'll oversee the day-to-day operations of our jet boat team, ensuring compliance with Maritime NZ Rule Part 82 and maintaining the highest standards of safety, customer service, and cultural integrity. You'll work closely with the Operations Manager and senior team to maximise trip availability, support driver training, and uphold our manaakitanga values—caring for our manuhiri (visitors) and each other like whānau.
What You'll Do
- Lead and support a team of skilled jet boat drivers, ensuring operational excellence and safety
- Drive jet boats as rostered, delivering engaging commentary and unforgettable experiences
- Monitor and maintain compliance with all Maritime NZ regulations and internal SOPs
- Oversee driver training, evaluations, and logbook management
- Collaborate with workshop, funyak, and transport teams to ensure seamless operations
- Champion sustainability and cultural confidence across the team
- Support hazard management, incident reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Minimum 5 years of commercial jet boat driving experience
- Proven leadership and team development skills
- Strong background in health & safety and customer service
- Experience training others and managing logistics
- P Endorsement and Class 2 licence (or ability to obtain)
- Computer literacy and excellent time management
- A commitment to Ngāi Tahu values, te reo Māori, and cultural development
