The role
As Risk Assurance Lead at Alpine Energy Limited (AEL), you will play a key role during a period of growth, investment, and sector transformation. This role provides the opportunity to actively contribute to strengthening AEL’s enterprise risk approach, supporting the organisation to protect and create long-term value.
You will provide independent and objective risk management services that enable AEL to meet its strategic priorities and governance responsibilities. With a disciplined and systematic approach, you will support the effectiveness of risk management, internal control, and governance processes.
A key focus of this role is to lead the development and implementation of enterprise-wide risk frameworks, tools, and practices that guide risk understanding and ownership across the business—particularly as AEL navigates a complex and evolving regulatory and operational environment.
What you'll need
- A bachelor’s degree in risk management, Engineering, Finance, Business or a related field is essential; professional membership is desirable.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and staying informed on emerging risks and industry developments.
- At least four years’ senior experience in risk management, with a solid understanding of risk principles, methodologies and frameworks.
- Proven experience in enterprise risk, compliance or internal audit, ideally within a regulated environment.
- Strong analytical capability, with the ability to assess and interpret complex risks, draw conclusions, and apply relevant tools and systems.
- Skilled in developing and embedding governance processes, reporting mechanisms and assurance strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate risk concepts into practical business guidance.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience working with boards and executive teams to provide strategic risk insights, support informed decision-making, and align frameworks with organisational objectives and risk appetite.
- Knowledge of New Zealand’s EDB regulatory framework, including health and safety compliance and sector-specific standards.
- Awareness of environmental and sustainability risks and their impact on long-term organisational resilience.
- Collaborative and proactive in embedding a strong risk culture, facilitating continuous improvement and supporting operational risk ownership.
