Dojko’s Kilim Café Napier is located in the heart of Napier, offering a great food experience in Balkan-style Turkish cuisine, 6 days a week. We are looking to employ a cook to join our hardworking team, and we aim to open 7 days a week once our kitchen team is complete. Please note that the restaurant is open on holidays (except Christmas and Easter) so the candidate must be able to work during holidays.

You would have:

  • At least 1 year of experience as a cook or a Level 2 or 3 cooking qualification
  • Experience in Mediterranean or Balkan cuisine is a plus; you will work as a line cook, marinating and grilling meat, along with other kitchen tasks
  • A high standard of personal hygiene and presentation
  • The ability to work in a small, high-paced, and high-volume environment
  • Punctuality, organisation, and the ability to multitask with attention to detail
  • Experience with health and safety laws and keeping records for quality control
  • Availability to work on holidays, evenings, and weekends — you will be rostered from 9 am to 9 pm
  • New Zealand residency or a visa allowing you to work
  • For the right candidate, we may consider supporting your visa application

What we are offering:

  • Full-time permanent employment
  • A minimum of 30 hours/week guaranteed. Please note that we work in split shifts, so the applicant may want to reside close to the restaurant for convenience
  • Pay rate: $25/h-$27/h (depending on experience)
