We are looking for 3 x Calf Rearer's to join our whānau for the calving season Mid July through to Mid October. Farm Pahi and Farm Hāmua are located in Eyrewell Forest on Poyntz Road, North Canterbury.
Our Ngāi Tahu Farm Pahi and Hamua are 282 and 310 hectares with 800 and 1020 milking cows and have a team of five full time Kaimahi (employees) plus additional casual support when required.
These positions offer the opportunity to be a part of team that supports the sustainable growth and protection of our tribal pūtea and settlement assets for future generations. "Mō tātou, ā, mō kā uri ā muri ake nei (for us and our children after us)."

Ngāi Tahu Farming is the Kaitiaki (guardian) of the most significant whenua (land) footprint for Ngāi Tahu whānui, spanning almost 100,000 hectares of farm and forestry land in Te Waipounamu (the South Island).

Key Responsibilities Include
- Calf Rearing: Feed all heifer replacement calves, beef calves, and bobby calves according to prescribed protocols.
- Hygiene and Health: Maintain high standards of hygiene in calf sheds, including regular cleaning and disinfection.
- Animal Welfare: Ensure the health of calves through proper feeding, watering, and medical treatment.
- Team Support: Assist with feeding and other calf-related tasks as needed.
- Health & Safety: Assist in identifying workplace hazards and developing effective safety controls
- 6 days on, 1 day off roster
- Support and guidance with industry-leading farming practices and performance

- Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn
- Someone with the ability to adapt to change
- Willing to learn tikanga and te reo Māori
- Have experience with calf management and animal healthcare
- Some calf rearing experience preferred, though not essential.
- Livestock experience would be an advantage.
- Understanding of, or eagerness to learn, Ngāi Tahu values, tikanga, and te reo Māori.
