Location: Auckland CBD , 3-4 days in the office

About The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Security Engineer to join a high-performing team within one of New Zealand’s most trusted digital service providers. This role is all about hands-on technical expertise, continuous learning, and growing into a subject matter expert across multiple enterprise security technologies.

You'll be responsible for supporting and managing advanced security infrastructure used by large organisations across NZ. This includes industry-leading platforms such as Fortinet, Checkpoint, and others.

What You'll Be Doing


  • Administer, support, and maintain Next-Gen Firewalls and security tools like SSE solutions and web proxies.
  • Monitor, manage, and improve the lifecycle, performance, and security posture of enterprise infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network security issues.
  • Participate in risk management activities, security audits, and compliance processes.
  • Collaborate with project teams and internal stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable solutions.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a culture of learning and technical excellence.
  • Create and maintain accurate technical documentation.
  • Be available for on-call rotations and after-hours support as needed (every 3-4 weeks).


What We’re Looking For


  • Solid hands-on experience with Fortinet (FortiGate) and Checkpoint firewalls - configuration, troubleshooting, and administration in real-world environments.
  • Background in network security, ideally within a Managed Security Services or enterprise setting.
  • Experience with tools such as F5/NetScaler, web proxies, and Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS).
  • Strong understanding of TCP, UDP, HTTP and how applications interact across networks.
  • 3-4 days of working from the office with flexible working hours accommodating appointments, school pick ups, drop -offs, etc.


Preferred Certifications


  • Fortinet NSE 7 (strongly preferred)
  • Checkpoint CCSE or CISSP/ CompTIA Network+ / Cisco Certification or, equivalent certifications
