Wenita Forest Products is seeking a skilled GIS & Data Specialist to join our Forestry Technical Team. In this role, you’ll play a crucial part in managing our geospatial information systems, maintaining stand records, and supporting forest operations with accurate data and mapping. You’ll also enjoy managing and reporting data to deliver valuable insights and practical solutions for the business.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for delivering an effective GIS mapping and information service, data management and reporting across our operations, this includes:

  • Leading the application and integration of GIS systems and databases
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date plantation stand records and aerial photography
  • Producing high-quality maps for forest planning and operations
  • Oversee data collection and reporting processes across the Wenita team and translate collected data into meaningful insights to support informed decision-making.
  • Supporting compliance with environmental and health & safety standards


This position plays a key liaison role with internal teams and external stakeholders including auditors, consultants, local authorities, and neighbours.

Skills and Experiences:

About You

We’re seeking someone who combines technical excellence with strong interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in ArcGIS is essential, with experience with integrating aerial photography, and database/drafting systems preferred
  • Proficiency in GIS mapping, spatial analysis, and forestry database management
  • Capability and experience in data analysis and reporting systems, including preparation of dashboards and reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel required and experience with Power BI and SQL are preferrable
  • Strong working knowledge of forestry practices, compliance regulations, and environmental standards
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Experience with forestry modelling and planning tools is a plus
