About The Role

We are seeking a proactive and adaptable Operations Coordinator to join our team in the heart of Te Waipounamu. This is a dynamic role that blends operational logistics, team coordination, and guest service delivery in a world-renowned adventure tourism environment.

You'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth daily operation of our glacier guiding experiences, coordinating logistics from our base, and supporting our commitment to safety, sustainability, and cultural storytelling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily guiding operations from Te Ao Marama Glacier Base
  • Adjust trip schedules and logistics in response to weather, guide availability, and operational needs
  • Liaise with pilots, guides, and base staff to ensure seamless communication and safe execution of trips
  • Manage and update guiding rosters, incorporating training plans and fatigue management
  • Monitor trip capacities and guide utilisation to support operational efficiency and financial planning
  • Assist with monthly business reviews and contribute to strategic planning
  • Support compliance with safety procedures, incident reporting, and operational policies
  • Collaborate on sustainability initiatives and uphold the Tiaki Promise
  • Provide exceptional customer service and assist with guest logistics
  • Participate in cultural development and promote Ngāi Tahu values

Qualifications & Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in service or tourism operations, including at least 2 years coordinating daily logistics and team schedules in an adventure tourism or glacier guiding environment
  • Tertiary qualification in tourism, business, logistics, or environmental science (or related field)
  • PHEC or equivalent first aid certification
  • Full NZ driver's license preferred
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
  • Familiarity with outdoor safety, hazard management, and cultural storytelling (e.g., te reo Māori)
