Te Tūranga | The role:

Our Government Relations & Regulatory Affairs team sits within our Business Services division and is responsible for monitoring and influencing policy and regulatory reform and understanding what changes mean for our customers, communities and ASB.

This is an adviser role which means you will hone your skills and develop expertise within this team. You'll learn from policymakers, regulators, industry experts and ASB leaders as you strive to become a game changer in the government and regulatory space.

  • Identify, analyse, track and communicate policy and regulatory change and intelligence that will materially affect ASB and its stakeholders,
  • Foster key relationships with external stakeholders including regulators, government officials, Group Regulatory Affairs and Advocacy and industry bodies.
  • Develop high-level communications and briefing materials for target audiences in collaboration with other areas of the business to promote greater collaboration with Government on key issues.
  • Assist the Senior Manager and Head of GR and Regulatory Affairs to advise on responses to inquiries from government officials, advocacy documents and special projects.

Ngā mea kia whai angitū ahau? | What do I need to be successful?

  • 4-6 years of experience in a policy, communications or government relations related role. Specific knowledge of banking / financial services or knowledge of New Zealand financial services regulators and government is desirable.
  • Ability to interpret legislation and explain its relevance and impact to business
  • Advanced organisation and planning skills with demonstrated ability to work on multiple priorities simultaneously
  • A positive approach and attitude filled with curiosity and a true desire to learn and grow.
  • Excellent research and written communication skills
  • Empathy to understand the needs of each other, ASB customers and the wider community.
