Our teaching team is growing and we are seeking a Senior Healthcare Lecturer with expertise in Community Health, Addiction or Mental Health to lead the delivery of our Level 8 Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare.
This role offers the opportunity to shape future health professionals in a dynamic learning environment that blends academic excellence with cultural intelligence, research engagement, and community-connected learning.
You’ll teach Postgraduate learners using blended and online methods, mentor emerging professionals, and your research informs your teaching.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, inclusive postgraduate-level content through face-to-face and online delivery (via Canvas LMS and MS Teams)
- Design, develop, update, and assess assessments aligned with NZQA standards
- Support learners through structured academic guidance and holistic pastoral care
- Engage in applied research and scholarly activities, particularly within the fields of mental health, community health and/or addiction
- Incorporate te reo me ngā tikanga Māori, Pasifika values, and principles of Mana Ōrite into your teaching
- Facilitate guest lectures, field trips, and build industry connections to support real-world learning
We’re looking for an educator who is passionate, research-active, and committed to culturally responsive practice. You will demonstrate a deep understanding of the Aotearoa healthcare landscape and a commitment to equity and excellence in education.
You Will Bring
- A PhD or Masters in in Healthcare in Mental Health, Addiction, or Community Health
- Active involvement in research, ideally in Mental Health, Addiction, or Community Health
- Minimum tertiary-level teaching experience (Level 8 or above) in New Zealand
- Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and ability to embed its principles in your teaching
- Experience with NZQA programme design, assessment, and moderation
- Possess the Diploma in Tertiary Teaching Level 6 or NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (Level 5 ) or willingness to complete one
- Practical experience in Aotearoa’s health sector is advantageous
