Location: Auckland, New Zealand

Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Archway Technology Recruitment is excited to partner and recruit for this upcoming opportunity. Our client is a global leader in intelligent automation and real-world data platforms, building innovative solutions that help industries capture, process, and act on physical environment data at scale. From infrastructure to energy, their platform powers smart, connected workflows across a variety of field-deployed systems.

As our client team grows, we are now seeking a Senior Mechatronics Engineer with expertise in autonomous systems, particularly those that operate in dynamic, real-world environments. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys tackling complex engineering challenges, from developing real-time control systems to designing robust testing environments.

You’ll be stepping into a critical role within a team known for delivering high-performance edge computing software, simulation tools (SITL/HITL), and distributed control across fleets of smart devices. Your background might include work with mobile systems, embedded automation platforms, or multi-agent coordination tools.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and maintain software for field-deployed autonomous platforms, including control systems, telemetry, and mission execution
  • Develop simulation and orchestration tools to support hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop testing
  • Collaborate with hardware vendors to onboard and integrate new platforms
  • Work directly with end-users to trial, refine, and deploy advanced automation workflows
  • Document and evangelize new capabilities to drive adoption across the business and customer base

What You Bring

  • Strong academic background - Degree in Mechatronics, Embedded Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Proven commercial experience delivering production-grade software for automated or autonomous systems
  • Strong background in real-time systems, control theory, sensor integration, or edge computing
  • Familiarity with testing tools and simulation environments for multi-platform or multi-agent systems
  • Proficiency in Go, Python, or TypeScript, and experience with protocols like MAVLink, gRPC, or MQTT
  • Bonus points for experience with CAD, embedded firmware, or custom PCB prototyping

Why Join

  • Work on impactful automation solutions used in global operations
  • Join a technically mature team that values autonomy, experimentation, and quality
  • Enjoy hybrid working and flexible hours, with hands-on time in a purpose-built facility in Auckland
  • Occasional travel to field sites or customer locations may be required
