Store Manager – City of Spices, Timaru
Indian Grocery Store | Minimum 30 hours/week | $28–$35 per hour
City of Spices, a well-established Indian grocery store based in Timaru, is seeking an experienced and motivated Store Manager to join our team. Our store operates between 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, including weekends, and we are committed to offering a minimum of 30 hours per week.
About the Role:
As the Store Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the store, ensuring a high standard of service, maintaining stock levels, and leading a dedicated team. Candidates with knowledge of Indian masalas and grocery items will be highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Determine product mix, stock levels, and service standards.
- Formulate and implement purchasing and marketing policies; set and review pricing.
- Promote and advertise the store's goods and services.
- Sell goods and provide product advice to customers.
- Maintain accurate records of stock levels and financial transactions.
- Prepare and manage store budgets.
- Oversee staff selection, training, and supervision.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Minimum two years of relevant work experience in a retail environment; or
- A qualification equivalent to or higher than New Zealand Register Diploma Level 4.
- Strong knowledge of Indian grocery items and spices preferred.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage staff and maintain a positive team environment.
- Sound knowledge of stock management and financial record-keeping.
