Joining Arup

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

Arup is seeking a dedicated Façade Engineer for its New Zealand team. This role involves working on high-profile local and regional projects, providing innovative solutions, and ensuring the quality and accuracy of façade designs.

The Opportunity

  • Manage specific parts of external design projects, ensuring timely and accurate delivery. This includes coordinating project tasks, tracking progress, and participating in project meetings and updates.
  • Check and assure the quality and accuracy of your own work and potentially that of others. This involves meticulous review of all aspects to ensure accuracy and completeness, and providing guidance, training, and feedback to others.
  • Represent the team at external meetings and develop strong client relationships. This includes authoring non-standard letters, reports, and other documentation as required, and participating in developing events, activities, and internal projects of some complexity.
  • Assist in preparing technical drawings and documentation for engineering and construction projects. This involves translating design concepts into drawings, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with drafting standards.
  • Work closely with the New Zealand Façade Technical Leader and the regional Façades team on a day-to-day basis. This includes supporting engineers and architects in translating design concepts into drawings, conducting basic thermal and structural analysis of façade systems, and specifying façade materials.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.

You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

  • Recognized bachelor’s degree in structural, civil, mechanical, architectural, or aerospace engineering.
  • Engineering experience within a consulting business environment; façade engineering experience is not mandatory but a proactive approach to learning is required.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software such as Strand7, GSA, and basic competency in AutoCAD, Sketch-up, or Rhino.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt to diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to tackle challenges strategically, identify root causes, and explore innovative solutions.
