This is a newly created opportunity for a Principal Strategy & Governance Advisor on a 6 month, fixed term contract.
This role would suit a strategic thinker with strong governance acumen and a passion for shaping high-impact initiatives. The Principal Strategy & Governance Advisor will support a significant government initiative focused on transforming public sector service delivery.
This is a unique opportunity to join a small, fast-paced team. In this role, you’ll work closely with senior leadership and the Board to shape strategy, deliver on performance planning and ministerial reporting, and influence cross-agency engagement.

- Leading strategic planning and organisational performance processes.
- Providing governance support and Board secretariat services.
- Advising on compliance, risk, and regulatory settings in a complex public sector environment.
- Driving key frameworks such as the Statement of Intent and ministerial reporting.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in corporate strategy, governance, or public sector leadership.
- Strong understanding of New Zealand’s accountability and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent written communication and critical thinking skills.
- A collaborative style and ability to influence at all levels.
