The Opportunity - Te Tūranga
We are seeking two skilled and experienced Integration Engineers who will be responsible for building and maintaining high-quality, cloud-native integration solutions on the TVNZ Integration Platform. Your work will enable seamless data flow and process coordination across internal systems and external services, supporting TVNZ's digital-first and cloud-first strategy.
You will contribute to both greenfield and legacy migration projects, working with modern AWS tools, Python and Node.js, and help enforce best practices in security, testing, and maintainability. You will work closely with developers, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver robust, reusable integrations that align with strategic objectives and technical standards

The Opportunity - Te Tūranga

Your work will enable seamless data flow and process coordination across internal systems and external services, supporting TVNZ's digital-first and cloud-first strategy.
You will contribute to both greenfield and legacy migration projects, working with modern AWS tools, Python and Node.js, and help enforce best practices in security, testing, and maintainability. You will work closely with developers, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver robust, reusable integrations that align with strategic objectives and technical standards
Your Focus Will Be To
- Design, develop, and maintain integration services using Python (primary) and Node.js (secondary) within AWS environments
- Implement integrations as part of the new TVNZ Integration Platform and assist with the migration of existing iPaaS and on-prem integrations as per the defined roadmap
- Contribute to integration design discussions and apply patterns that support modularity, reusability, and maintainability
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven services to support decoupled system integrations
- Work with Infrastructure, Security, DevOps, and Architecture teams to ensure integration solutions are secure, observable, and scalable
- Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and peer collaboration across teams
- Assist in developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform
- Support CI/CD integration pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment workflows
- Monitor and optimize the performance and reliability of integrations, including logging, error handling, and production support
- Create and maintain accurate API documentation using OpenAPI standards
To be successful in this role, you will need
- Proficient in Python and familiar with Node.js for backend development in serverless/cloud-native environments
- Hands-on experience with AWS services related to integration (e.g., Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS/SNS, API Gateway)
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles (e.g., SOLID, OOP), code modularization, and testing frameworks (pytest, Jest, etc.)
- Experience with RESTful API design, microservices, and event-driven systems
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, CodePipeline)
- Basic understanding of containerization (Docker, ECS, or EKS) and Infrastructure as Code (CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation)
- Strong focus on clean code, performance, and secure development practices
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
- Exposure to media or advertising industry platforms (nice to have)
- Familiarity with the FAST API Python framework
- Experience with Kafka or similar messaging/streaming tool
