Community Support Worker - Children with Special Needs

Elixir Care Ltd, a provider of support services for children with special needs, is seeking compassionate and dedicated Community Support Workers to join our team. Responsibilities:
Provide direct care and support to children with special needs, ensuring their safety, well-being, and development.
Assist with personal care tasks, including hygiene routines, feeding, and medication administration, following individual care plans.
Implement behaviour management strategies, utilising positive reinforcement techniques and visual supports to encourage desired behaviours and minimise challenging behaviours.
Support children with special needs in their educational and recreational activities, promoting social interaction, skill development, and inclusion.
Collaborate with families, educators, and other professionals to develop and implement individualised care plans and educational strategies.
Facilitate community integration and participation, organising outings and engaging children with special needs in social and community activities.
Foster emotional support, providing companionship, empathy, and encouragement to children with special needs.
Maintain accurate documentation of observations, progress, and any incidents.
If you have:
Appropriate qualifications for providing support to children with special needs are preferred.
Relevant experience in supporting children with special needs, such as autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning disabilities, or behavioural challenges is preferred.
Passionate about working with children with special needs and making a positive impact in their lives.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with children with special needs and their families.
Patience, empathy, and understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by children with special needs.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary professionals.
Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs and schedules of children with special needs.

Pay: $26.16 - $32 per hour
Full time, 36 hours
Monday to Friday with Thursday as weekly day off (expected work hours between 3 pm to 9 pm)
Saturday and Sunday (expected work hours between 10 am-4 pm)
