Description:
We are seeking a skilled Anaesthetic Technician/Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join our team at Mercy Hospital. In this vital role, you will play an essential part in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of anaesthesia across a wide range of procedures.
You will provide expert clinical and technical support to the Anaesthetist, contributing to the safe administration of anaesthesia and the delivery of high-quality patient care. Additionally, you will support the theatre team in maintaining a smooth and efficient operating environment.
Mercy is proud to offer an expanded scope for the Anaesthetic Technician role, now including responsibilities in both scrub and recovery areas. This provides an exciting opportunity to grow your skill set while making a meaningful impact on patient care.

- Provide professional, technical and clinical assistance to Anaesthetists.
- Provide safe administration of anaesthesia to patients.
- Anticipate problems and exceptional patient care.
- Co-ordinate documentation to ensure the patient receives effective care.
- Participation in quality improvement processes and activities.

Skills and Experiences:
Alongside your previous experience as an Anaesthetic Technician or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP), our ideal candidate will also have the following:
- Hold registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
- Demonstrate sound professional judgement and an ability to practice in a culturally safe manner.
- Confidence to build successful working relationships with those around you, the ability to work independently or within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Enthusiasm and a proactive, flexible attitude.
