You’ll be at the heart of our storytelling – sourcing, shooting, editing, and publishing compelling video and multimedia content that resonates with audiences across Aotearoa.
How You'll Do It
Working in close collaboration with the NZ Herald team, you’ll:
- Capture both moving and still images that support and enhance our journalism.
- Shoot and edit video content in multiple formats (horizontal and vertical) for digital platforms, social media, and partner syndication.
- Respond rapidly to breaking news, juggling tasks and priorities to deliver real-time coverage.
- Operate studio cameras, manage live streams and broadcasts, and process visuals for top-tier execution.
- Write headlines, summaries and captions that grab attention while ensuring accuracy and SEO best practices.
- Contribute to visual content planning and support regional newsrooms with their visuals needs.
- A relevant qualification or NCEA Level 2 English with at least 1 year of hands-on experience in video production/editing.
- A passion for news, a strong eye for visuals, and the drive to constantly develop your craft.
- Proven experience in video shooting and editing (minimum 1 year).
- Skilled in using editorial systems and production software.
- Able to manage competing priorities, stay calm under pressure and adapt quickly in a breaking news environment.
