About the role

We are seeking a permanent, full-time Clinical Charge Nurse who will be providing clinical and professional nursing leadership, team work promotion, coaching of staff and monitoring standards of practice. Proven experiences as a highly proficient clinician in nursing practice including skills, knowledge and ability to provide direction for and evaluate nursing care are keys to success in this role.

About the Team

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Starship Children’s Hospital is a 40 cot unit consisting of 18 intensive care and 22 high dependency cots. NICU cares for babies born premature from 23 weeks gestation and is the referral centre for babies who need paediatric cardiology services, neonatal surgery or treatment for complex metabolic diseases. The unit are also responsible for flight retrieval for the Northern Region.

About you

Bring your expertise, your knowledge and your skills to make a difference around the way we approach our mahi to better meet patients, whānau and stakeholder needs. You need to be a master in relationship building and liaising with a multi-disciplinary group.

To be successful you will have:

  • Advanced clinical practice knowledge – at least 3 years of neonatal experience in a tertiary hospital.
  • A commitment to bi-culturalism in relation to the Treaty of Waitangi
  • Commitment to providing excellent care
  • Strong accountability for resource and budget management
  • Current NZ Nursing Registration and an annual practicing certificate

Ideally, you will have completed or working towards a post-graduate qualification and have experience in Neonatal Intensive Care as a senior staff nurse.
