About the Role

Applications are invited for Anaesthesia Training Registrar positions across Waikato, Rotorua, and Tauranga Hospitals (part of the Midland Anaesthesia Training Scheme).

These roles offer:

  • Diverse clinical exposure:Train at Waikato Hospital (New Zealand’s only major hospital with all surgical specialties on one campus and the Midland region’s trauma centre) and secondary-level Rotorua and Tauranga Hospitals.
  • Structured training:Protected teaching time (½ day per week), simulation sessions, and mentorship from senior anaesthetists.

About the Team/Service

Our Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine team at Waikato Hospital is a collaborative, teaching-focused department with a strong commitment to high standards and professional growth. You’ll join a supportive environment with:

  • Regular teaching programmes(M&M meetings, journal clubs, and exam preparation for ANZCA trainees).
  • Multidisciplinary collaborationacross theatres, ICU, acute pain services, and outpatient clinics.

  • Aculture of mentorship, with dedicated Supervisors of Training and opportunities for research and quality improvement (QI) projects.

About You

To be considered, you will need:

  • A minimum of two years’ post-graduation clinical experience.
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
  • Overseas applicants: Prior anaesthetic training and compliance with MCNZ registration.
