About the Role
Being a PD (Peritoneal Dialysis) Clinical Nurse Specialist is a highly rewarding and challenging role that offers a unique blend of autonomy, variety, and opportunities for leadership and personal growth. In this role, you’ll manage complex patients with end-stage renal disease, providing holistic care that addresses physical, emotional and psychological needs. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, educate patients and whanau on PD therapy, and promote self-management skills to improve patient outcomes. As a PD CNS your day will be filled with opportunities to make a difference in the lives of your patients. It starts with review of patient’s charts and prioritizing tasks and planning for the day ahead. Home visits and dialysis rounds follow up where you will provide personalized education, training, and support to patients on PD, empowering them to take control of their care. Collaboration with colleagues, which there are two in Lakes and multidisciplinary teams in Waikato. Continuous learning through webinars and workshops and staying up to date with the latest research and best practices are all integral to the role. About you
As a PD CNS it is expected that you would have recent renal experience especially in the delivery of peritoneal dialysis care, able to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team. .
- New Zealand Registered with Nursing Council of NZ, current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Relevant tertiary qualification. In some instances particular and/or on-the-job training maybe required
- Evidence of relevant professional development in specialist clinical knowledge and skills. Recent PD renal experience
- Commitment to ongoing post graduate education
- Professional affiliation
