Data Collection Technician

The purpose of the Data Collection Technician position is to support the Data Collection Lead – Surfacing and Pavements while having input into ongoing development of the data processing and reporting processes for the Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD), Hawkeye and GripTester Businesses.

A key focus of this role will be collaboration and interaction with the wider Mobile Data Collection and Laboratory teams to drive efficiency and deliver excellent outcomes for our customers.

50% of the Data Collection Officer role will involve driving across the county operating Road Science’s state of the art data collection vehicles, 50% of role will involve data processing and reporting of data.

Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills

Fundamental to this role will be driving across the county operating Road Science’s state of the art data collection vehicles (FWD, Hawkeye and GripTester). The purpose of this is to collect and report the data collected by these machines. This is used by our customers for road infrastructure design and asset management.

You will ideally be:

• Strong computer skills. Experience in coding and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is a bonus.
• Full NZ Drivers Licence is essential
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate and listen to clients.
• Analytical Thinker, able to Identify and maximise improvement opportunities.
• Faster learner with the ability to adapt and learn new systems that enhance the mobile data collection business.
A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience will be beneficial
