Based in Invercargill, Blue River Dairy is a world-class manufacturer of nutritional infant formulas using milks from three different species; sheep, goat and cow. Our products are exported to China. We’re an innovative, dedicated team proud to call Blue River and Southland, home.

We’re looking for a People & Capability Advisor who thrives on variety, brings great attention to detail and enjoys building relationships that make work better for everyone.
Reporting to the General Manager, this is a hands-on role supporting our team on a day-to-day basis but also looking for opportunities to improve what we do and how we do it. From running payroll and supporting our leaders, to delivering people initiatives and enabling change—your work will have real meaning and influence across the business. We currently use ELMO as our HRIS and payroll platform. The position requires you to be very capable navigating various internal software programmes and confident to explore their functionalities without fear.

Key Responsibilities:
- End-to-end responsibility for running our fortnightly payroll
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding, performance, and development processes
- Advising and coaching leaders on people matters and policies
- Contributing to a range of People & Capability initiatives and projects
- Supporting organisational change, engagement activities and wellbeing initiatives
- Compiling HR data and reporting on KPIs
Your Skills and Experience:
- 2-4 years’ experience in a generalist HR or advisory role
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail
- Solid understanding of NZ employment law and best practice HR
- Experience with payroll
- Great interpersonal skills
- Comfortable managing your own workload and identifying what matters most
- Discretion and professionalism when dealing with sensitive and confidential matters
- A passion for people, problem-solving, and continuous improvement
- A positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to grow
