Mosgiel Tavern is looking for a Duty Manager. Applicants must be over 20 years of age to gain a Manager's Licence.

This is a varied and important role for the day-to-day operation of the Mosgiel Tavern. You will be confident to deliver responsible alcohol licensing adherence as a Duty Manager.

Duties include:

  1. Greet customers warmly and serve them promptly in a friendly manner.
  2. Ensure there is always an adequate supply of clean glassware, clean tables, and collect used glasses from the tables, placing them in the washing area for cleaning.
  3. Ensure the customer areas are tidy at all times and displayed in accordance with the establishment’s standards.
  4. Advise the Bar Manager/Duty Manager of bar supply shortages and ensure compliance with liquor licensing laws.
  5. Ensure there is always someone behind the bar to serve customers.
  6. Report any problems with customers or equipment to the Bar Manager and follow their instructions.
  7. Ensure the safety of the business’s property and cash at all times.
  8. Perform any other duties the employer may reasonably require.

Skills, experience and behavioural traits

This is not an entry-level position. We require candidates with at least 1 year of relevant work experience. In addition to this, you must also:

  • Hold a valid LCQ (Licence Controller Qualification).
  • Experience in supervising a gaming room and meeting Harm minimisation requirements (full training will be given).
  • Meet the legal requirements of a Manager as required in the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.
  • Ability to work in either bar or restaurant area.
  • Flexibility – weekdays, nights, and weekends on a rostered basis.
  • Mature and positive outlook.
  • Exceptional people skills and customer service.
  • Honest and reliable.
  • Passionate about the hospitality industry.
