Mō te tūranga | About the role
- Support Waikato Regional Council’s corporate finance systems and provide oversight of the functional application of the financial systems across the council.
- Act as liaison between Finance and the rest of the organisation to ensure system and process optimisation.
- Support a programme of continuous improvement via the use of data and analysis along with the review and enhancement of processes and systems.
- Provide application support across multiple systems / modules ensuring they are operating as intended.
- Manage the review, triaging and resolution of Finance related systems and process issues.
- Develop and maintain financial reporting outputs.
Mō te tangata | About you
- Design, testing and implementation of complex ERP systems.
- Ability to analyse, manipulate and report on large, complex sets of data.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Design and development of reporting dashboards, for example - using Power BI.
Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting / finance or equivalent of accounting knowledge.
- Previous experience as a Finance Business Analyst, translating finance / accounting concepts and requirements to systems specialists and vice versa would be extremely valuable.
- Formal training in business/systems analysis tools and methodologies.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the advanced use of business/system analysis techniques, methods, and standards.
- Experience dealing with large financial systems, projects and complex integration.

- The Financial Planning & Reporting team consists of a number of Finance Business Partners that support the various Directorates within the Regional Council.
- The team has responsibility for coordinating the financial planning, forecasting and performance reporting of council activities.
- Reporting to the Manager for Financial Planning & Reporting, this position will work closely with finance professionals to deliver services across council.
