Established in 1995, our client Tūwharetoa ki Kawerau Hauora provides quality health, education, and social services within the rohe of Tūwharetoa i te Aupouri and the Eastern Bay of Plenty communities that reflects te taha tinana, te taha hinengaro, te taha wairua me te taha whānau.

We are looking for an experienced Mana Whakahou Senior Clinician who has a background working in mental health and addictions, and leading a team to join our team.

About the role:

The Mana Whakahou will assist with coordinating and monitor all service requirements in relation to team performance for a successful Toiora Māmā, Pēpi pregnancy and Parental clinical and cultural delivery.

Conducting comprehensive risk assessment, providing intervention and treatment, this busy hands-on role provides high-quality clinical support to clients who are pregnant, or parents of children under three years of age, who experience Alcohol and Drug issues and are poorly connected to health and social services.

Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the implementation of the Toiora Māmā, Pēpi Pregnancy and Parental Clinical & Cultural Service
  • Provide clinical support to ensure colleagues are equipped to perform their clinical and cultural roles
  • Takes responsibility for clinical risk management of māmā and pēpi in partnership with PPS Psychiatrist and Clinical Psychologist
  • Quality Service, ensures all care provided by self meets required guidelines and clinical practice standards
  • Provides clinical related advice and consultancy both internally and for health and social service professionals
  • Receive and respond to referrals and enquiries in a timely manner
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, create and monitor treatment plans
  • Develop strength-based goal plans alongside clients
  • Plans discharge process with clients and co-ordinate where appropriate with relevant family/whānau/support people
  • Reporting, ensures all reporting is completed by team and submitted before due dates
  • Liaison with external stakeholders and iwi alliance providers

The ideal candidate requirements:

  • A minimum of three years’ experience working in mental health and addictions
  • DAPAANZ registration or on the pathway to gaining this is preferable
  • OT/Crises experience is desirable
  • Clean full NZ Drivers Licence
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Have a passion for working with the Kawerau community and surrounding areas
  • Strong relationship and network management, able to develop working relationships with whānau, internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent computer literacy skills, with proficiency in all Microsoft Office functions
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • High attention to detail
  • A commitment to safe work practices
  • Empathy, showing respect for clients and their whānau
  • Knowledge and awareness of tikanga Māori culture and history, and an understanding of Te Reo Māori is required

You will be professional, trustworthy, confidential, self-motivated and remain calm in times of stress. Being flexible and adaptable is key to being successful in this role, as duties will vary from day to day.
