Cooks required

We have two Cook positions available in our busy takeaway business in Opotiki.

You must already have the skills and knowledge to be able to:

• Plan menus and specials
• Be able to estimate food requirements for ordering supplies
• Check all foodstuffs to ensure quality
• Cook dishes and snacks as per menu
• Operate ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment with ease
• Cook high-quality food items without supervision in a timely manner
• Season food during cooking
• Portion food and add gravies, sauces, and garnishes
• Ensure food is stored in temperature-controlled facilities
• Prepare food to meet special dietary requirements
• Keep work areas and equipment clean and tidy, ensuring sanitation practices are always in compliance with hygiene regulations
• Assist with training and directing kitchen hands as required
• Work with safe practices following kitchen safety standards

You will have at least 2-3 years of work experience in a restaurant or hotel environment. You must be flexible to work late evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.

Remuneration will be between $28 to $30 per hour depending on experience, and a minimum of 30 hours of work per week is guaranteed.
