The Role
Based in Auckland, this is a rare opportunity to lead a globally distributed mechanical engineering team through the full lifecycle of complex product development. The Mechanical Engineering Manager will oversee new product delivery, champion engineering best practices, and ensure mechanical excellence across digital systems platforms.
The role is hands-on and strategic, combining leadership of cross-regional teams with technical depth in mechanical design, thermal management, DFM/DFA, and sealed systems. You will influence architecture, guide execution, and actively contribute to innovation roadmaps and technology platforms.
You will also be responsible for optimising internal frameworks, tools, and design processes, ensuring a robust environment for innovation, scalability, and part reusability.

You will also be responsible for optimising internal frameworks, tools, and design processes, ensuring a robust environment for innovation, scalability, and part reusability.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver new product developments on time, budget, and spec
- Design architectures for thermal performance and manufacturability
- Coach and grow a high-performing mechanical engineering team
- Drive improvements in design platforms, tools, and reuse strategy
- Collaborate across sourcing, manufacturing, and product teams
- Foster a design-to-cost mindset across global teams
- Ensure mechanical design IP is maintained and extended
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical product design
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering
- Leadership experience across global or cross-functional teams
- Expertise in CAD, PDM, and analysis tools
- Experience in harsh environment products: marine, auto, industrial
- Strong background in thermal design and mechanical systems integration
- Proven ability to drive delivery, optimise team effectiveness, and innovate under pressure
