About The Role

This role will see you responsible for the preparation of accounting and financial reporting information to meet the needs of stakeholders, regulatory bodies and management, and to comply with applicable accounting standards and relevant legislation.

About The Role
We have an opportunity to join our Finance Control team as a Financial Accountant. This role will see you responsible for the preparation of accounting and financial reporting information to meet the needs of stakeholders, regulatory bodies and management, and to comply with applicable accounting standards and relevant legislation.
Some Of The Key Responsibilities Are
- Prepare annual and half-yearly financial statements, including liaising with relevant team members for specific disclosures.
- Prepare annual financial statements for subsidiaries and joint ventures, and liaise with external and internal auditors as needed.
- Process accounting information for subsidiaries, associates, and joint ventures into financial ledgers in accordance with GAAP, ensuring reconciliation with external financial information.
- Prepare accounting entries for fuels, emissions, carbon trading, sponsorship, and prepayments in accordance with GAAP, and update monthly expenditure and biannual assumption updates on rehabilitation and mitigation provisions.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of general ledger balance sheet accounts, monitor completion of these reconciliations across the Finance function, and provide monthly reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager and GM Financial Control and Assurance.
- Support the Financial Accounting Manager with technical accounting advice, research and write technical accounting papers, monitor best practice financial disclosures, and provide recommendations for improving financial reporting. Act as a backup for other team members and focus on identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in financial accounting (preferably in a corporate or professional services environment)
- CA (member of ICANZ or similar)
- Commerce degree in Accountancy
- Tertiary taxation study
- Experience in Chartered Accountancy in audit or business services
- Workday experience
- Experience in consolidated financial statements
