We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Financial Accountant to join our Finance team at Mercy Hospital in Dunedin. As a Financial Accountant at Mercy Hospital, specific duties include:
- To be a trusted financial advisor to business unit managers, actively seeking opportunities to enhance knowledge and efficiencies to maximise profitability.
- Organise and execute budgeting, real-time data access, financial reporting and costing processes to align with Mercy's ongoing financial sustainability.
- Ensure compliance with legislative and contractual obligations with particular emphasis on payroll and financial matters.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, annual financial statements, and financial reports.
- Empower the finance and payroll teams to sustainably enhance service delivery and implement process improvements.
Skills And Experience
The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail, along with a proven ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. You will also need to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated experience in financial accounting.
- Chartered Accountant (or nearing completion of Chartered Accountant qualification).
- Familiarity with relevant accounting software and systems.
- Strong communication, leadership and influencing skills.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
