Te āheinga: The Opportunity As the Director, Research & Enterprise, you'll be at the forefront of driving groundbreaking research initiatives at Unitec & MIT. Your leadership will be pivotal in shaping the future of applied research, ensuring our educational programmes are cutting-edge and deeply connected to the needs of our communities, industries, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion Innovation: Foster a dynamic and collaborative culture that links our applied research capabilities with real-world challenges of industries and communities, delivering innovative solutions that make a tangible impact.
  • Strategic Visionary: Craft and implement strategic directions for applied research, aligning with stakeholder needs, public policy, and our academic strengths.
  • Work-ready Graduates: Amplify our learners' work-readiness and attractiveness by integrating applied research into their learning journey.
  • Leadership Excellence: Oversee research management and support functions, ensuring excellence in postgraduate programme supervision, examinations, and quality assurance.
  • Change Maker: Lead transformative initiatives in partnership with other leaders, driving continuous improvement and innovation across the organisation.

He kōrero mōu: What We're Looking For:

You're a visionary leader with a proven track record in senior management and research leadership. Your experience in building productive partnerships and collaborations with internal and external stakeholders is exceptional. You have successfully led major research programs and strategies, demonstrating your capacity to integrate research and education programs effectively.

Your understanding of innovative industry-based or applied research is profound, and you are committed to fostering a student-centered environment that values diverse perspectives and cultures. You're adept at financial management, with strong budgeting capabilities, ensuring that resources are utilised effectively to achieve maximum benefit.

You possess a deep appreciation for Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori, and the values and practices of Kaupapa Māori, or you have a strong desire to learn and integrate these into your work. Your leadership style is characterised by honesty, integrity, and authenticity, gaining the trust and confidence of others.

A doctoral qualification is preferred, and you have strong connections within the national research regulatory and funding system. You're ready to lead and develop a high-performing team, driving excellence and fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and dynamic work culture.
