About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Sexual Health Physician to join our Christchurch Sexual Health Centre team to cover a short term vacancy. This role offers an opportunity to provide best-practice sexual healthcare to patients while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.

As a Sexual Health Physician, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting outpatient clinic duties and providing competent, ethical management of sexual health conditions.
  • Offering expert advice, referrals, and consultations with other healthcare professionals.
  • Supervising, teaching, and contributing to research initiatives.
  • Maintaining clinical documentation and participating in quality improvement processes.

About the Team

Our team is made up of doctors, clinical nurse specialists, nursing staff, and administrative professionals. We work together to provide a high-quality, patient-centred sexual health service to the Canterbury region.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A medical qualification recognized for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand as a Sexual Health Physician.
  • A current Annual Practising Certificate.
  • Postgraduate medical experience with expertise in the medical management of sexually transmitted infections.
  • Experience in sexual health, family planning, or medical gynaecology is highly desirable.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A patient-focused, empathetic approach to healthcare.
