Salary range: VTS Salary Range 6: $113,838 to $142,297 per annum
Starting salary will be dependent on skills and experience of the successful applicant. In addition to salary, we offer overtime, penal time, and shift allowances.
About the Role - Korero mo te turanga
If you are a veterinary verifier looking for the next step in your career, we have an opportunity for a Supervising Veterinarian (VTS1) based at ANZCO Foods Kokiri, near Greymouth.
As a VTS1, you will be based at ANZCO Foods Kokiri, which is a beef processing plant operating day shifts, five days a week, with occasional Saturday work during peak processing season.
This position is ideal for a veterinarian with effective communication and stakeholder relationship skills.
MPI Verification Services (VS) provides food safety and biosecurity verification and certification services to support market access strategies and standards. Our core purpose is to deliver independent, cost-effective, high-quality verification, certification, inspection, and clearance programs to ensure operators meet regulatory requirements.
The role typically involves a 5-day x 8 hours roster, with consideration for a 4x10 roster if possible.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure official assurances for export products are valid and withstand third-party reviews through audit and verification of operators and their processes.
- Ensure timely and effective corrective and preventative actions are implemented by operators.
- Manage workload efficiently, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Work with and support the regional MPI team and other stakeholders, including farmers.
- Communicate effectively with operator personnel from plant managers to frontline staff.
- Attend and facilitate internal, external, and market access reviews.
About the Team - Mo te peka
This position reports to the Team Manager Establishments Nelson. The role covers processing times on plant, with compensated overtime and penal time payments for early starts or late finishes.

About You - Mou
- New Zealand registered Veterinarian (or able to obtain registration with VCNZ).
- Full New Zealand driver's licence (or able to convert an overseas licence).
- Preferred experience as an establishment VTS or as a senior/supervisory veterinarian.
- Strong verbal and written skills, and analytical reasoning skills.
- Experience managing stakeholder relationships under pressure.
- Computer literacy with standard and customised software.
