About the role

The Older Persons Mental Health (OPMH) Community Team has an exciting opportunity for an experienced registered health professional to be part of the OPMH “Walking in Another’s Shoes” (WiAS) programme. This role involves designing and facilitating dementia-specific education sessions and developing person-centred support for other registered health professionals in aged residential and home-based care. The Dementia Education Facilitator function additionally extends to the wider OPMH service, offering support, advice, care-plan mapping and education to OPMH staff.

About You

The successful candidate will be a confident practitioner with suitable experience working with tangata whai ora / clients with mate wareware / dementia, who has a passion for developing, promoting, and facilitating person-centred dementia care education. Experience in developing and presenting educational resources will be an advantage. Necessary personal attributes would include self-motivation, excellent interpersonal skills, and diverse communication skills that enhance delivery of learning goals.

This is a 0.8 FTE, permanent part-time position, working within Monday - Friday.
