Mō tēnei mahi | About this job

We are seeking a Kaiako on a casual basis (no fixed hours) based in Queenstown, to provide cover to kaiako delivering different levels of our Raranga programme. Teaching involves but is not limited to: developing lesson plans, presenting material to tauira (students), responding to tauira learning needs, and evaluating tauira progress. Flexibility will be required to work some weekends and evenings

Mōu | About you

You will have sound knowledge and extensive practical experience in Raranga, to be able to deliver across a range of levels and tauira abilities. You will need to be able facilitate application of principle and theory into contextualised practice, apply tikanga Māori appropriate to raranga, and be a critical, conceptual and self-reflective practitioner.

Ideally, applicants will have:

  • Te Maunga Kura Toi - Bachelor degree in Māori Art or similar, with a focus on Raranga
  • NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching Level 5 (NZCATT) or equivalent, or be willing to complete in the first year of employment
  • Full NZ Driver License

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
