We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Back-end Developer to join our Digital Product team who are responsible for delivering and improving digital capabilities for our existing and prospective members.
You'll be joining us at the start of a large technology transformation, where you will be contributing design and build of our future-focussed solutions, working to a well-defined Roadmap geared towards enabling more self-service for our members via digital channels.
Beyond core back-end development responsibilities, we are looking for someone who has the capability to contribute to a cross-functional team, bringing expertise across DevOps and automation. The ideal candidate will also be experienced working in Agile environments, and can champion ways of working and best practice across the team.

This is an 18 month fixed term position. Candidates across all New Zealand locations will be considered.
What a day might look like
- Attend and contribute to agile ceremonies; stand-ups, planning, retrospective, sprint demo
- Attend and contribute to refinement meetings, understanding and sizing of work, at the Epic, Feature and User Story level.
- Contribute to solution design, assist discovery with tech spikes/poc/research
- Collaborating with solution architects to produce technical designs to ensure long-term sustainability
- Backend development; debugging, troubleshooting, fixing bugs, implementing features, integration development, API development, code reviews
- Managing and contributing to release management activity
- Implement Azure infrastructure using pipeline, yaml and bicep
- Working closely with our test experts, responding and resolving defects/bugs and assisting with the build of the automation regression suite when capacity demands
- Monitoring Production APIs for any issues and resolve
- Holding a strong Member focus and alignment to MAS's purpose and commercial lens to activity
- Interpersonal savvy and strong relationship, communication and network skillsets - building professional relationship built on mutual trust and respect
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Languages / frameworks/ tooling: C# , SQL , Bicep , Entity Framework , Postman , Visual Studio , SQL management studio , Docker , Git source control
- Azure: WebApis , API management , Functions , Web Application Firewall , Application insights/ alerts , Azure Dev Ops
- Senior developer skills: Secure coding practices / secure coding standards , Knowledge of coding patterns
- DevOps - IaC: Bicep or yaml
- Automation and test tooling: Playwright , Browserstack , Arc toolkit , ReqNRoll , SpecFlow , Jmeter
- Microsoft certified or equivalent Microsoft Azure experience
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Ideally Agile training/certifications, at a minimum hands-on experience working with Agile frameworks, in particular Scrum
