We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team who will assist in the conducts tests of mechanical systems, collects and analyses data, and assembles and installs mechanical assemblies.

Main Responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Preparing drawings, plans and designs for mechanical engineering work.
  • Assisting in the design of mechanical equipment and plant.
  • Selecting tools and equipment.
  • Assembling and installing new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools and controls, etc.
  • Estimating material costs and quantities, and machine requirements.
  • Performing and directing field tests.
  • Collecting and analysing data, carrying out complex computations and preparing diagrams.
  • Organising and supervising inspection and maintenance of machines and plant.
  • Ensuring that designs and finished work are within specifications, regulations and contract provisions.
  • Must undertake other duties as delegated by the leading hand.
  • Must adhere to all company policies including Quality Assurance and Occupational Health and Safety.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Must have at least three years of proven experience in similar field or Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Mechanical Engineering (NZQF Level 7) or a diploma at NZQF Level 6, or a higher qualification, with the minimum equivalent of 240 credits, which includes the knowledge requirements of the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) (Level 6).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and building codes.
  • A team member must have good communication skills, interpersonal skills and also time management skills.
  • Must present a good quality and high standard work to the client.
  • Must be able to work in an unsupervised area, safe and trustworthy.
  • Must be a positive team player.
  • Creative and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • No registration or licensing required.
