Infrastructure Compliance Supervisor

We’re looking for an Infrastructure Compliance Supervisor to join our hard-working team in Queenstown.
What you’ll be doing / He aha te mahi
The Infrastructure Compliance Supervisor role sits within the Engineering Acceptance team at QLDC. While Land Development Engineers (LDEs) generally focus on ensuring that development infrastructure meets QLDC standards, this specific role has a stronger focus on field compliance, risk mitigation, and regulatory oversight.
The role will involve:
- Ensuring infrastructure projects adhere to all relevant regulations, standards, and policies, including resource consent conditions and engineering acceptance requirements.
- Regularly monitor infrastructure activities to identify and record potential non-compliance issues and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders to ensure corrective actions are taken. Attending hold point inspections and confirming physical construction has met Council Code of Practice or resource consent conditions at subdivision completion.
- Achieving effective solutions and outcomes within challenging situations, or when dealing with ambiguous and conflicting positions.
- Delivering excellent customer service, maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, collaborate across Council teams, and uphold QLDC’s professional image in the community.
What you’ll bring to the role / Ko wai tō Pukeka
You will be an experienced civil engineering or surveying professional (5+ years) with knowledge of three waters, roading, and land management. Strong time management, project management, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently after training. Familiarity with relevant legislation (RMA, Local Government Act) and NZS 4404:2010 is desirable but not essential.
To best succeed in this role, you’ll have:
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or related discipline (and be eligible for professional membership).
- New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Level 4)
- Registered & Licenced Certifying Drainlayer desirable but not essential.
