A little bit about the role:

As the Content & Social Manager at Kathmandu, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing a comprehensive content strategy that brings to life our brand’s curiosity, innovation, heritage, New Zealand spirit, and commitment to sustainability – amplifying these qualities globally through engaging and informative storytelling across owned, earned, and partner channels.



This is a hands-on role for a working manager — you’ll lead by doing, producing high volumes of day-to-day content while shaping the broader content strategy.



Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Develop and lead a comprehensive content strategy for Kathmandu that aligns with the brand's vision, target audience, and business objectives – bringing the brand to life across global markets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand marketing, product, partnerships and campaign requirements, integrating these insights into a dynamic content calendar.
  • Overseeing the delivery of content across multiple platforms (social, email, web, video) ensuring consistency and high quality and cultural relevance across regions.
  • Ensure the content strategy and development processes stay in line with Kathmandu's brand identity, messaging, and tone.
  • Personally create and deliver high-quality content across digital, social, and campaign platforms — including writing copy, developing visual concepts, and producing day-to-day content as required.
  • Manage the content production pipeline, ensuring timely delivery and appropriate distribution across marketing channels.
  • Design and implement a strategic, channel-specific, social media strategy that enhances brand engagement, builds community and drives organic growth.
  • Collaborate with the Social Media Content Specialist on user-generated content (UGC) plans and content mix to enhance the brand's social media presence and foster a sense of community among a diverse, global audience.
  • Staying ahead of industry trends, including AI-driven content marketing innovations.
  • Utilise analytics tools to measure the effectiveness of content campaigns, social media efforts, and influencer collaborations.

  • Comfortable producing high volumes of content across formats, including writing social copy, blog posts, email content, and campaign messaging.
  • Drive engagement and community building.
  • Familiarity with outdoor apparel and equipment market.
  • Timely delivery in fast-paced environment.
  • Budget management skills and financial acumen.
  • Experience in team leadership and management, particularly in a content context.
  • Demonstrates adherence to Kathmandu 's core values and principles.



Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business management, or a related field.
  • Proven Content Strategy, Creation, and Social Media Experience.
  • Copywriting Expertise: Engaging and informative product-focused copy.
  • SEO Knowledge: Optimising content for visibility and reach.
  • Creative Vision: Innovative and visually appealing content creation.
  • Strong Communication and Collaboration Skills: Cross-functional teamwork.
  • In-depth knowledge of social media management, content management, content promotion systems
