Sewing Assistant

St Andrew’s College is recognised as one of New Zealand’s leading independent schools. We are a co-educational school and boarding school with a proud heritage and are seeking a highly motivated and capable Sewing Assistant to join our small laundry team.

The Boarders in our secondary school are an important part of our student numbers and part of the service we offer them is sewing repairs and labelling. This is a busy role where you will interact and engage with students and staff. A day in the life is never the same and your tasks will include:

• Labelling clothing items with name tags
• Mending / repairing / darning / alterations of clothing items
• Hemming pants, shorts, dresses
• Laundry assistance where required

This is a hands-on role and we are looking for someone who is friendly and approachable and who can work well in a close-knit team. We need someone who can think on their feet, is reliable, communicates well and can provide a high level of technical sewing service to the boarders. You will have a good eye for detail and will be able to work autonomously in a busy environment.

The days and hours of work are Monday to Friday, 20 hours per week, term time only, with additional hours of work available by mutual agreement with the manager.
