He angitūtanga | About the role

The Statutory Support Officer/Project Coordinator forms an integral part of the Regulatory Services team and we have a full time, 12-month opportunity for someone with the right skills and experience to join us in providing high quality support, services and project coordination to our team. Our collective focus is to contribute to our kaupapa of ensuring we deliver high-quality conservation goals and outcomes that align with our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. You will be someone who has the drive to deliver high quality work and feel inspired by our shared purpose and values.

This role requires someone who is agile, can quickly adapt and prioritise a number of tasks on the go, at any one time. This role will focus on providing high quality statutory process and administrative support to the team as well as project coordination. This role is one of a network of similar roles supporting the Regulatory Services teams, so you may be called upon to support any of our managers or teams; however, there is currently a focus on the Permissions and Statutory Process teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Administrative support to the team – project coordination tasks, coordination for Official Information Act, Ministerial and Parliamentary question requests, word processing, document management, and administrative support for public notification processes
  • Provision of personal assistance to the manager – diary management, meeting support, drafting correspondence, arranging travel, support for financial processes
  • Provision of communications support – newsletters, surveys, presentations, website content, and reports

This position can be based in either Hamilton, Christchurch, or Dunedin.

You will be an administration extraordinaire with strong coordination skills and the ability to proactively identify and use your initiative to support our team to help deliver our work. We are a busy and friendly team, so your experience with managing multiple tasks, remaining calm under pressure, and strong communication skills will be the key to your success in this role.

In addition, we need someone with the following attributes:

  • A strong administration background with demonstrated experience in administrative processes and services
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Uses initiative and independent judgement to deal with critical tasks
  • Professional interpersonal and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure to meet business critical deadlines
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • A customer focused approach
  • Motivated, proactive, and enjoys a busy working environment
  • Contributes positively to a high-performing and engaged team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Tikanga Māori and Te Ao Māori or a willingness to engage is an advantage
  • Knowledge of Department of Conservation processes and systems

The salary range for this position is $60,314 to $75,603 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory this includes holding a valid work visa that overs the whole period of employment.
